Obesity is an epidemic that is impacting most of the world. It is not only affecting the older generation but younger ones as well. To understand obesity, specifically combating it, studies about infants (Weber et al., 2014), adolescents (Tarro et al., 2014), and adults (Annesi Tennant, 2014) were used as focal points. It is found through the examination of these articles that nutrition is not the only important aspect of fighting obesity, although it is still quite important. Family influence is important to infants and adolescents. Adolescents as well as adults also need an internal motivation to live a better life in order to stop obesity. Introduction Obesity is defined as â€Å"excessive fat accumulation that may impair health† (World Health Organization, 2014, what are overweight and obesity section). Body Mass index (BMI) is often used to classify people as overweight. A BMI, calculated by weight and height, of 30 or more is considered obese in adults. Obesity is a major epidemic not only in the United States but also around the world. According to the World Health Organization (2014), in 2008 â€Å"more than 10% of the world’s adult population was obese† (Key Facts section). Obesity does not only affect adults, however.
